4RF, world-class designer and manufacturer of licensed narrowband SCADA radio products, introduced first-to-market Aprisa SR+ and Aprisa FE radios for the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc. Mirrored BitsTM protocol at DistribuTECH 2015 in San Diego, CA, Feb 3-5 2015. Increased capacity provides complete, versatile and reliable system solutions for linking data communication distances in excess of 100 miles.
The unrivalled proprietary licensed narrowband Aprisa SR+ and Aprisa FE radios offer Mirrored Bits compatible operation at 220, 400, and 900 MHz and FCC Part 24, 90, and 101 licensed bands. The solution supports the low latency, high-speed, secure, relay-to-relay protected communication of real or virtual contact-status bits.
“To date only unlicensed radio met the requirements to support SEL Mirrored Bits but many utilities are unwilling to run critical applications over unlicensed products. The Aprisa radios are the only products on the market that can deliver a complete licensed narrowband solution,” said Hanoch Maskalchi, Vice President, Sales at 4RF Worldwide. “Our radios can be smoothly integrated into an existing serial or a modem IP-based SNMP-managed network for ultimate versatility. 4RF is committed to developing products that enable customers to efficiently upgrade and modernize their equipment.”
DistribuTECH, the world’s largest annual transmission and distribution grid event, provided the platform for visitors to experience the design and functionality of the high capacity Aprisa SR+, Point-to-MultiPoint SCADA and Aprisa XE / FE Point-to-Point radios. Made from a rugged die cast aluminium chassis suitable for extreme conditions, the compact Aprisa radios are simple to mount, include Ethernet and serial connectivity, and come with an intuitive management software system.
