OPT cost-effectively extends telecoms and mobile coverage to remote French Polynesian island
The French Polynesian national communications provider, OPT, needed to extend GSM and POTS coverage to the remote island of Maiao, overcoming the problems of low subscriber densities, over-water distance and challenging environmental conditions.
The Aprisa XE was used in the 1400 MHz band to provide a link from Tahiti to Maiao. 4RF is now the preferred supplier for such links and the network is being further extended.
We are very happy with the Aprisa equipment, owing to its high reliability in difficult radio propagation conditions, and its ease of deployment in remote islands.
